Short answer: use air coolers for daytime events in dry, sunny weather, when guests sit still for an hour or more. Use industrial fans in humid or rainy weather, under closed side walls, or for evening events, because they move air without adding moisture. Plan one or two units per 20×20 canopy. Air coolers appeared on half of the jobs we handled between December 2025 and August 2026.
An air cooler blows air through a wet pad, so it cools by evaporation. It feels several degrees cooler close to the unit, but only works well when the air is not already humid. An industrial fan simply moves a large volume of air. It cools by breeze rather than temperature, and it keeps working in any weather.
| Situation | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Midday kenduri, clear sky | Air cooler |
| Evening dinner or open house | Industrial fan, or a mix |
| Rainy season, side walls closed | Industrial fan |
| Indoor hall without aircon | Air cooler plus fan for circulation |
| Elderly guests seated for long periods | Air cooler near the seating |
Real examples: a Chinese New Year corporate event in Rawang used 6 portable air coolers across two canopies; an official visit setup in Perak used 4 coolers under two Arabian canopies.
Each unit needs a power point within reach of an extension cable. Air coolers also need water refills every few hours, so place them where a hose or bucket can reach. If the venue cannot supply power, tell us when you request a quote.
